Information Calvià Vila
Stroll through the narrow streets of this charming little town. Calvià Vila is an excellent starting point to continue exploring the interior of the municipality as well as being one of the most popular stops for cycling. This town can be seen from the different high places of the term as well as being located between wooded mountains and the Puig del Galatzó. To get to the town we will have to move between lands used for olive and almond cultivation, so it is not surprising that the town is surrounded by scattered houses, with orchards and fields, except in the center where there is the town hall building and where a market takes place every Monday.
The first thing that stands out of Calvià Vila is its church and the two tall towers that surround it and that reveal its history to us. The church of Sant Joan Baptista dates back to 1248 but hardly any original remains have been preserved as they have been replaced at different times by more modern constructions. The current building presents a historicist façade that combines neo-Romanesque elements with a large neo-gothic window and two slender twin towers where the bell tower is located.
However, much of the beauty of the town lies in the tranquility and leisurely atmosphere that have somehow characterized it for centuries.
