The Buganvilla (Buguenvil-lia) beach is in the area of Cas Català – Illetes, a quiet tourist and residential area of Calvià. It is only 6 km. from Palma, between Caló de ses Genes and the Calanova marina.
This section of the Calvia coastline, which borders the municipality of Palma, is divided into two different areas. In the western part, the slope and bed of fine, golden-coloured sand stands out, while the eastern side has a rocky appearance, with gravel mixed with remains of Posidonia algae. An artificial wall separates it from the urban landscape (private homes, tourist accommodation, shops and restaurants).
From the shore, which is about 100 m. long and 20 m. wide, sailing boats are often seen continuously, due to the proximity of the beach to the Cala Nova sailing school.
To get to Cas Català from Palma, the easiest route is via the Palma-Andratx motorway, taking the Cala Mayor turnoff. From there, along the old road that links Calvià with Palma, we head towards Illetes. Of course, there are also public transport options with stops near the beach.
Marine and underwater conditions make it inadvisable to anchor a boat in front of this beach. The nearest Calvià port is Puerto Portals.
