“Cala Contesa” is a beautiful small beach with sand and rocks. It is located in the area of “Ses Illetes” in Calvià, a few kilometres from Palma, to be precise, between “Punta des Bufador” and “Illetes” beach.

It is a small sea inlet, of about 100 metres by 20 metres, in the shape of a rectangle, surrounded by pine trees and flanked by low rocks, which are used as sunbathing areas to lie down in the sun.

From the shore we can enjoy spectacular views, such as that of the island which presides the beach, “S’illot de sa Caleta.” Diving in the surroundings of this island is highly recommended, as well as other activities such as kayaking, etc.

Its small dimensions and its areas of pine forest, providing shade, make it very popular with families who have babies and small children.

How to get to the beach

Access by road is easy. We reach Illetes via the Palma-Andratx motorway, taking the Bendinat turnoff. From Bendinat, head towards Illetes and follow the signs for the beach. Stairs lead up to this sandy area. You can also opt for public transport. The nearest bus stop is 300 metres away.

Anchoring conditions

The marine and underwater conditions of “Cala Contesa” are optimal for anchoring a boat, on a seabed of sand and seaweed, at a depth ranging between two and three metres, provided that the passage between “Islote de sa Caleta” and “Islote de s’Estenedor” is avoided. Right in this strait there are many shallows.
